Our client is an independent consumer finance company specialising in motor finance. They pride themselves on offering fair, responsible lending and exceptional customer support. As they continue to expand, they are looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a Collections & Customer Resolution Officer and develop a long-term career with them.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in collections, legal processes, compliance, and customer care within the financial services sector. You will start by focusing on collections activity, with the chance to grow into more advanced responsibilities such as legal case handling, court processes, customer complaints resolution, and compliance tasks.

Job Duties

Collections (Initial Primary Focus):

  • Contact customers regarding overdue payments via phone, email, and written communication
  • Negotiate repayment arrangements in line with company policies
  • Handle vulnerable customer situations with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate and detailed customer records
  • Work towards performance targets while upholding regulatory standards

 

Progression Opportunities (Training Provided):

  • Legal Work:
    • Support and manage accounts entering legal and recovery stages
    • Assist in preparing documentation for legal proceedings
    • Learn court processes and help progress cases appropriately
  • Customer Complaints Handling:
    • Understand and implement relevant law
    • Investigate and resolve customer complaints fairly and efficiently
    • Liaise with customers, internal teams, and ombudsman services when required
    • Ensure outcomes comply with FCA and company standards
  • Compliance & Administrative Tasks:
    • Support compliance monitoring and documentation
    • Assist with process improvements and internal audits
    • Help ensure company policies align with regulatory requirements

Company Description
Applicant Specification
  • Experience in collections, customer service, financial services, or a similar role (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills including writing letters
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when handling difficult conversations
  • Keen attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • A positive attitude and a desire to grow into more responsibility
  • Qualifications ETC
  • Driving licence preferred due to remote location, or local home address
