Our client is an Accountancy Practice based in West Ipswich who are actively seeking an Accounts Assistant/Technician to join their small team. Offering a supportive environment, this is a great opportunity for someone to join a close-knit team.

The purpose of this role is to provide regular support to clients in a professional manner, completing VAT returns, tax returns and bookkeeping to clients.

Job Duties
  • Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Bookkeeping using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements
  • Bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
  • Processing journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Assisting with corporation tax computations and self-assessment tax returns
  • Liaising with clients to obtain financial records and resolve queries
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files and working papers
  • Preparing trial balances and supporting schedules
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Handling general administrative duties within the practice

Company Description
Applicant Specification
  • AAT Level 3 or 4 or equivalent
  • 2 years accountancy practice preferred (industry experience considered)
  • The ability to work accurately and achieve deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills, the ability to work as a team player and build rapport with clients from a variety of backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office products and the aptitude to learn and embrace new systems and new technologies
  • Initiative and good problem-solving skills
  • A methodical and thorough approach
  • Driving licence preferred due to location, but not essential (dedicated car parking space available)
