Our client is a British, privately owned, international clinical services and infrastructure provider supporting healthcare clients across the UK and worldwide. They design and deliver purpose-built modular and mobile facilities including Operating Theatres, Wards, Endoscopy Suites, and Decontamination and Diagnostic Units. Alongside their facilities, they provide clinical teams and equipment to ensure seamless healthcare delivery.

They are seeking a results-driven Maintenance Operations Manager to lead and oversee the operational delivery of maintenance and aftercare services for their mobile and modular medical facilities. This is a pivotal role ensuring continuity of healthcare operations, optimising resources, and delivering exceptional quality services.

Based at their Manningtree office, you will also undertake regular nationwide site visits, engaging with NHS Trust Estates Managers and other stakeholders. Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside of standard hours is essential.

Job Duties
  • Leadership & Management – Direct line management of the Maintenance Manager and team, setting clear objectives and KPIs, fostering collaboration, and ensuring high standards of delivery.
  • Strategic Oversight – Develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with company goals, including preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Budget & Resource Management – Oversee maintenance budgets, monitor financial performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance – Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Build strong relationships with sub-contractors, NHS Trust Estates Managers, and internal clinical teams.
  • Continuous Improvement – Champion new technologies, establish KPIs, and drive operational enhancements.
  • Emergency Response – Lead crisis management strategies, coordinate teams during critical incidents, and conduct post-incident reviews.

Company Description
Applicant Specification
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field) – desirable.
  • IOSH qualification and professional certification in engineering maintenance.
  • Minimum 7 years’ senior-level maintenance management experience, ideally within healthcare, modular, or mobile facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, water systems, and medical gas systems.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and oversee large-scale maintenance operations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire teams and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of health & safety regulations and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
