Our client manufacture quality, reliable commercial plant, general duty, coil pipe, rolling chassis and cable drum trailers. Designed and manufactured in Britain, their market-leading, heavy-duty towing equipment supports the gas, water, electric and telecommunications industries.

Job Duties

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Procurement Manager to lead our purchasing function and deliver strategic value across the business. This is a hands-on role requiring a professional who is not only capable of developing and implementing procurement strategies but also actively involved in day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of applying a range of purchasing strategies that have directly contributed to improved business performance, cost efficiency, and supplier effectiveness.

  • Hands-on management of procurement activities, including supplier negotiations, order processing, and contract execution.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to business needs, including cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead sourcing initiatives across direct and indirect categories, ensuring optimal value and performance.
  • Conduct spend analysis and market research to inform purchasing decisions and strategy development.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring service levels and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to understand operational requirements and align procurement efforts.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion innovation in procurement practices, including digital tools and automation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Liaise/communicate and update Engineering, Sales, Management, Design, IT, Accounts as necessary.
  • Attend team meetings and deliver (when deputising for Manufacturing Operations Manager.)
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Company.

Applicant Specification
  • Proven experience in a Procurement Manager or senior procurement role, ideally within a fast-paced or growth-oriented business.
  • Demonstrable success in implementing diverse purchasing strategies that have led to measurable improvements in business performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and analytical capabilities.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to be involved in operational procurement tasks.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CIPS, MBA, or equivalent) are desirable.
