Job Description

Our client is a manufacturing company, based in Harwich, who are looking to add a Design Engineer to their growing design team. 
 
The successful candidate will co-ordinate and manage key machine build projects through the system and will act as customer liaison; responsible for the co-ordination, organisation and allocation of tasks to other members of staff involved in the project.

Job Duties

  • To co-ordinate and manage key machine build projects through the system.
  • Oversee the issue of BOMs to production department, ensuring each machine is issued correctly.
  • Customer liaison and the co-ordination, organisation and allocation of tasks to other members of staff involved in the project.
  • Deal directly with customers either by telephone, electronically or face to face.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries if required.
  • Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle design requirements from the customer.
  • Keep records of customer interactions and transactions.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments.
  • Customer site visits to evaluate machine requirements.
  • Developing R&D projects as directed.
  • Supervision and control over the design and manufacture.
  • Procurement of test parts, assembly and trialling.
  • Documentation to support new developments.

Applicant Specification

  • Design experience
  • Solidworks experience 
  • Ideally experience within the manufacturing/engineering fields
  • A strong communicator who can lead customer/client interaction
  • A positive and outgoing attitude, even when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Comfortable working within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and IT skills with the ability to effectively articulate customer information.
  • Be willing to occasionally work additional hours to complete projects.
