Our Client is an Essex based construction company who are committed to being the premier builder in the local community. They are now looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to their local, growing company. 

Job Duties

The Quantity Surveyor will take lead on concept to completion cost management, including but not limited to - cost planning, variations, tender analysis, contract administration, cost reporting, change management, employers agent and final accounts.
 
Duties (include but are not limited to):
 
·       Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
·       Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
·       Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
·       Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
·       Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
·       Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
·       Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
·       Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
·       Traveling from the office to various sites as required.

Applicant Specification

Person Specification:
 
·       Ideally 3+ years in a QS role, but our client is open to different experience levels
·       Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar.
·       Construction estimating or finance experience is advantageous.
·       Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
·       Sound knowledge of the local construction market.
·       Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
·       Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
·       A valid driver's license.
·       Experience estimating work value from site visits (new build)
·       Accurate and thorough 
·       Good attention to detail
·       Team Player 
·       Relaxed office atmosphere – as long as the work is done
