If a job needs the right person, then Christmas will not put off companies and recruiters to put their search on hold, which is why you shouldn’t either. There is the assumption that companies are looking for people to join their team in the new year, and because of this people will hold off their job search. Be ahead of the game and start applying for the right jobs now! Try and avoid the rush in the new year where everyone is applying for jobs, when you may have missed out on an opportunity by putting your December job search on hold.

Why it’s an ideal time:

If you secure an interview and have been successful in landing your dream job, then you will have a couple of weeks to settle in to your new role. you can meet the team, start training if necessary and can start getting to know the company culture. This could allow you to have the Christmas break off, and go back to work in the new year with the reassurance that you are well equipped for the role.

Companies will notice that you are using your time in the busy festive season to job search. So, make sure that you give the best impression with your CV and Cover Letter which will make you stand out even more!

Top tip! in the festive season it’s understandable to be busy and tied up in a few plans, however, you want your schedule to be as flexible as you can make it. There will be some companies that will try and carry out the interview stage before Christmas.

A temporary job is a great way to earn money and get valuable experience down on your CV. Not only this, temporary work may lead to a permanent role within the company. It’s common for companies that are impressed by their temporary workers to continue with them when their contract ends. Be sure to get hands-on with temporary work so you can boost your CV!

Top tip! Temporary work is particularly useful if you aren’t working many hours or you are unemployed, you can really find your feet in the company and you may become more desirable to be offered a permanent position.

‘Tis the season to be jolly’… So, you couldn’t pick a better time of the year to take the opportunity to get to know the company you have secured a job with, or could potentially be a part of. Get to know the team in an out of work environment, this will help build work associations when you’re new in the office.
